Die Quintessenz, dass die Nanotechnologie, aufbauend auf die Erkenntnisse von verantwortungsvollen Forschern, einen großen Entwicklungs- und Innovationsschub auslösen kann, kommt nicht in der Bevölkerung an. Daraus ergibt sich, dass Innovation nicht von selbst funktioniert, sie braucht gesamtgesellschaftliche Diskussion und Akzeptanz.In diesem Sinne hat Bundesforschungsministerin Edelgard Bulmahn auch richtig gehandelt, als sie Leitprojekte für die zukünftige Nanoforschung zur Förderung ausgeschrieben hat. Aber diese müssen medial vermittelt werden.
