near-surface / near the surface Explanation: http://www.industrie.de/industrie/live/index2.php?menu=2&sub... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 mins (2008-09-25 16:01:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Muds, clays and silts from the holstein interglacial situated 20 - 30 m under ground level have also been partly eroded so that the highly mineralized water can ascend to the **near-surface** saalian and weichselian aquifers. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 34 mins (2008-09-25 16:16:21 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- maybe like this ? .... and returns to the streams as near-surface (groundwater) flow. |

shallow Explanation: "near-surface" bzw. Example sentence(s):
