German term or phrase: Fläche
Hi folks.

Text is describing a retailer in Germany. Sentence is:

Insgesamt führt das Unternehmen aktuell XX Läden in Eigenregie, YY Läden auf Franchisebasis und ist in ZZ Shops **und auf NNN Flächen *** vertreten.

XX, YY, ZZ and NNN are numbers

Now Kudoz gave some tantalizing choices, such as 'presence,' 'floorspace' and the like, which are in the ballpark for what I think it should be. But HOW should I (or how would you) fit it into this sentence, or is there a better solution?

Thanks and all suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Would this fit? It's not a standard translation, but it might work here.

(I mean it's not a typical translation of the word "Fläche".)

Thanks for the extra info, jccantrell. In that case, I think I like Craig's "other locations" the best.

disagree  Craig Meulen: From the context given I am sure it is not a figure in sqm but a number of (locations/other types of shop-like presence).

agree  TonyTK: Now that we know more about the relative figures, "locations" sounds like the best bet. (Andrew, I tend to think of "outlets" as self-contained entities.)

The Tamaris system partnership is still proving to be especially successful. During the last two years it has been the fastest growing partner-run concession concept in the shoe sector. For 2008 there are currently 160 places (80 last year) installed or under contract, 76 of these in single brand stores. The focus lies in the realization of single brand stores, this will give Wortmann an extremely high level of sales floor productivity compared with the rest of the sector. Tamaris stores are now being operated Europe wide. The expansion of the concession concept is being supported by an intensive brand campaign for the Tamaris label including eight figure investments each year. Wortmann is therefore one of the top European spenders in the shoe industry sector.
