Skim off the till Explanation: The till is skimmed off when a certain amount has been reached in the register, orat specific time intervals (permitting that it is necessary). This is done in order to aviod having too much cash in the store, but still enough on hand to conduct business. I find skim the till here a bit misleading, because it is also a slang expression for stealing money from your employer! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2007-05-12 12:11:43 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I find skim better than empty, because the register is not technically "emptied". |
