commercial printing / commercial print shops Explanation: Akzidenz can not be translated into English. It goes back to Gutenberg. In general English distinguishes between publication, commercial, packaging. Akzidenz is a bit of commercial, a bit of publication and a bit of posterwork. The best translation (and the one used in English source texts) would be commercial printing, even though this term does not fully cover the German "Akzidenzdruck". At least, that's what my husband has said, and he works for one of the leading printing ink manufacturers ... ;-) Reference: http://www.colorconcepts.com/index.htm |
