Gemeint sein dürfte logischerweise die Grundschwingung oder -frequenz ("fundamental frequency"), die in Oberschwingungen ("harmonics") zerlegt (sog. Fourier-Analyse, nicht "-Zerlegung") bzw. aus ihnen zusammengesetzt werden kann (sog. Fourier-Synthese). S. auch http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier-Analysis#Abstrakte_harm...
