Flächige Betrachtung (niedriger Kontrast) erleichtert die Übersicht (flächige Betrachtung durch Verbindung der Messpunkte mit den Nachbarpunkten). Punktuelle Betrachtung (hoher Kontrast) ermöglicht in besonderen Fällen die Bewertung von kleinen Strukturen (reduziert / keine Verbindung der Messelemente untereinander).

I imagine this is a more concentrated view as opposed to the flat, soft view of low contrast but am struggling to find the correct terminology.
