Pseudo-agglutination: This common cause of uncertain results is due to insufficient dilution of the donor sample or weak serum. The mixture looks finely granular, but without large masses. Under the microscope, no amorphous masses are seen, but the red cells are found to be adhering in 'rouleaux'. The remedy is indicated by causes mentioned above.
