German term or phrase: Legitimations-Verfahren
Context: Re. a trade fair.

"Besucher die an o.g. Verfahren nicht teilnehmen, müssen unter Berücksichtigung des üblichen Legitimations-Verfahrens vor Ort eine Karte kaufen."

Also, cf.:

"Neukunden ohne Zugangsdaten müssen sich vorher online registrieren und legitimieren."

As far as I understand it, legitimieren means "prove your identity", i.e. "New customers who do not yet have access details need to register online and prove their identity first", but I'm not so sure here. Firstly, there is no explanation of how one is required to prove ones identity, either online or on-site, and secondly it seems rather odd that visitors attending a trade fair should be required to prove their identity if they buy their tickets in person at the ticket desk.

giving the (normal/usual) proof of identity
Explanation:
It is not clear from the context why they have to provide proof of identity, but that is what is required it seems. It might be a health and safety sort of issue, or related to trade secrets or just the showing of some kind of pass for the event, but I am not sure it makes any difference to the thrust of the sentence.

agree  Alison MacG: Presumably trade-only fair with business ID required, e.g. is a trade fair exclusively for trade visitors. Visitors have to register and provide proof of trade visitor status. http://pressreleasepoint.com/beauty-international-düsseldorf...
