perimeter drain Explanation: Looking at the reference text the procedure for surface mining is to put a "perimeter drain" around the area to contain runoff. "Rand" is therefore translated as "perimeter" "Schlauch" here is literally "drain pipe" - but - In English the word "pipe" is understood and so it is just referred too as "Perimeter drain".
