Mining & Minerals / Gems / wristwatch retrograde display
German term or phrase: Rechner
The context is descrption of the technical functioning of a retrograde display on a wristwatch:

'Exzenter' I think refers to 'eccentric cam,' but I don't know how to translate 'Rechner' in the following:
Any help appreciated!

Mechanism

Explanation:
Mechanism would very probably fit in quite well. What it does is reset the hand to zero (its original position), for example when using the wristwatch as a stopwatch (chronograph function)

I think that here, Zurückspringen actually refers to a so-called Flyback Chronograph (which may help you further).

In the case of such "complication watches" (watches that do more than tell you the time), a single button is employed for starting, stopping and resetting the chronograph function - which seems to me to be what is being described here.

Hope this helps
