Steeply inclined permanent access passageway used to work metalliferous ores by stoping.

Überhau is literally: excavated/mined/driven overhead (Hauer is the old word for a miner who works with a pick)

So the sentence may well be translated as something like this.

"In the course of the exploration [survey], the suspected raises and the shaft were found at their expected [surface] locations"

Usually, a distinction is made between exploration (underground = untertage) and surveying (surface = übertage).

Shafts and raises at the surface, or the collapse of levels underground are a typical cause of mining subsidence where the overburden (soil - and even roads and houses) collapses into the old workings when the capping of shafts or raises (wood, concrete, iron bars) has deteriorated. Such collapses are also called "Tagesbrüche" (literally breaks to daylight) and are, in contrast to a Tagesüberhau, which is deliberately driven, in this case unintentional.


Translation of the reference definition:
A raise is a vertical or steeply inclined passageway generally rectangular in cross-section that is driven upwards in steeply dipping mineral deposits.
It creates a connection between levels or between a level and the surface.

BTW:
A tunnel driven from the surface may also be a level, drift or adit (usually near horizontal, driven into the side of a hill) A sloping access tunnel from the surface is an incline.
Level is also used to describe horizontal underground passageways.

Shafts are driven/dug/excavated (abgeteuft, literally "deepened") vertically from the surface.
