German term or phrase: Minengold
I'm translating a text on the impact of gold mining on the environment and this term keeps cropping up. It is defined in a footnote as follows:

"Minengold setzt sich zusammen aus verschiedenen Mineralien und Metallen und ist demzufolge kein reines, raffiniertes Gold."

Is there a standard English term for this?

Thanks,
Rachel

gold ore
Explanation:
How I would know it.
The link states:
"Types of ore
Gold Nuggets found in Arizona

Gold occurs principally as a native metal, usually alloyed to a greater or lesser extent with silver (as electrum), or sometimes with mercury (as an amalgam). Native gold can occur as sizeable nuggets, as fine grains or flakes in alluvial deposits, or as grains or microscopic particles embedded in other rocks.

Ores in which gold occurs in chemical composition with other elements are comparatively rare. They include calaverite, sylvanite, nagyagite, petzite and krennerite."

They have a picture of gold ore on the link.

mined gold

Explanation:
i.e. gold obtained by mining as distinct from alluvial gold which is found in existing or ancient river beds on or near the surface and takes the form of small particles of pure gold or (if the prospector is very lucky) gold nuggets.
The gold has to be extracted from the gold ore taken from the mine. This takes the form of crushing the ore into a fine powder before the gold can be removed. This latter process sometimes took (and perhaps in some places still takes) the form of dissolving the tiny gold particles in mercury, Perhaps this is one of the factors discussed in your text on the environmental impact of gold mining (along with the vast amounts of "spoil" i.e. waste materials which have to be disposed of, not to mention the huge craters in the earth's surface created by some forms of gold mining, as in Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

mined gold

Explanation:
There are other terms such as gold ore or placer gold but they are too specific for our purposes.

Example from link below:

"Newly-mined gold is not the only source of physical gold onto the market, and in fact accounts for just over 60% of supply. Due to its high value, gold is rarely destroyed and some 161,000 tons of gold (approximately 65 years of new mine supply at current levels) is estimated to exist in the form of jewellery, official sector gold holdings (central bank reserves) and private investment.
