I am trying to ascertain how to translate H/D as a measurement relating to bottles (for example, containing soft drinks):

"Maße Flasche (H/D) in mm:"

Height/diameter
Explanation:
I would say Höhe/Durchmesser

I've no idea and really no way of knowing. But I can't see what else it could possible be. The manufacturer may use some algorithm to take the tapering of specific bottles into account.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Would this also be correct if the bottles go in at the waist?

agree  Steffen Walter: Very plausible, with the added advantage that "H/D" can be kept in the English version.
