Science - Meteorology / Climate Change
German term or phrase: Raeumlicher Aufloesung
This is a text about climate change, the North Atlantic Current, the ozone layer etc.

The sentence which contains this phrase is:

"Eine Gruppe des Max-Planck-Instituts für Meteorologie berechnete vor ein paar Monaten erstmals das Klima des 21. Jahrhunderts in Europa mit hoher räumlicher Auflösung. Dabei wurden markante Unterschiede sichtbar: Die Sommer der fünften Dekade sollen im Mittelmeerraum um mehr als 2,5 Grad Celsius heißer sein als die 30 der Jahre 1961 bis 1990, in Mitteleuropa nicht einmal um 1 Grad."

I translated "Raemliche Aufloesung as "Spatial resolution" but this just seems wrong. I know think "Raeumlich" is "scope", but I am not sure what "Aufloesung" is in this context.

I would really appreciate any ideas :)

Thank you in advance!

Explanation:
Why do you think that's not correct? It's a very common term in geosciences.
