Discussion

Helen Shiner Jul 29, 2008:
Hi Jonathan, I found this:
Ich darf am Schluß dieser nur kursorisch aufgezählten verschiedenen Maßnahmen eine Angelegenheit erwähnen, auf die Herr Staatsrat von Wolf mich heute früh hat aufmerksam machen lassen.

as there are absolutely no googles for "eine Angelegenheit erwähnen", this may be a case of inprecise translation, though I still have to figure out what is meant here - your help is appreciated.

mentioned an occurence/issue

Some suggestions. Occurence if it is something that had happened; issue if the stress is less on happening but being.

or perhaps even better: brought up an issue

In reply to your comments: Angelegenheit = matter, but we don't say bring up or mention a matter in English, hence my suggestions. Though I'm sure you don't need the reference below:

Ask yourself if it is the right time to bring up an issue. If the other person is undergoing problems with work, school, kids, health and/or family, adding yet another problem to their burden is not likely to solve the issue.

thanks for jogging my somewhat lethargic mind, it's been in the 90s here for the past few days...

Thanks, Jonathan - yes, I must have had a mental blank there!
agree Armorel Young : raised an issue. "Occurrence" sounds too specific, since this could be a state of affairs rather than an event

Yes, as I said myself in my notes, but thanks
neutral Cilian O'Tuama : either way, it's occuRRence. // I just see a difference between spelling mistakes and typos, and the more often a mistake is made, the less likely it's a typo. That's all. :-)// then it's the same typo twice.

Excuse typo - neutral because of typo?/It remains a typo, thanks./For goodness sake, if you must know because I was typing with one hand whilst eating a piece of toast.
agree doctor_suz : with Armorel's "issue", good one
