From a lab report:

Knochenmark-Beurteilung:

Gesamtmark:
Zellgehalt: 3
gebietsweise: 4
Fettmarkanteil:
Blutbeimeng.:

Proerythroblasten und basophile Erythroblasten: 3 gbw. 3-4

Any thoughts as to the most concise translation of gebietsweise? Clearly "gbw." is the abbreviation. so I'm trying to think of the shortest thing to put here too.

Thanks!

Explanation:

... would work here well IMO, and is clearly shorter than "in some regions" or "some spots with...".

Thanks Harald! I went with “in places” it just seemed to look best in the format.

by area

Explanation:
as in area by area, but not sure how this would make sense in the context. in other words why would the result differ depending on whether you are looking at it area by area or as a whole. Could also be by region or region by region.

disagree  Harald Moelzer (medical-translator): no, the meaning here is "in some areas" not "assorted by (defined) areas"

neutral  Harald Moelzer (medical-translator): "certain" sounds like "defined", which would not be the case here
