Hirnbasisarterien

English translation: arteries in the region of the circle of Willis

German term or phrase: Hirnbasisarterien
I am proofreading a translation and I am not sure if I got this correct.

Cranial CT:

"Die basalen Zisternen sind frei. Sklerose der Hinbasisarterien."

The translator translated Hirnbasisarterien as "basal brain arteries".

I don't think that's correct. Now, the dictionary gives "basilar artery". but I that's not it either. For one, it's plural in DE. I think that they mean the Circle of Willis. but I want to be sure. Anatomy is ancient history for ne (and I don't think I ever really knew it).

Any brain surgeons out there? Or pathologists?

Thank you!!

English translation:arteries in the region of the circle of Willis
Explanation:
Since it's difficult to assign this slightly vague term unequivocally to either the basilar arteries or the circle of Wilis, you could leave your translation vague and just say 'arteries in the region of the circle of Willis', which would cover both.
