Medical - Medical: Dentistry / Bone Transplantation
German term or phrase: Anschlußbereiche
"Die Anschlußbereiche werden mit den gesammelten Knochenspänen und einem zusätzlich applizierten Calziumphophat aufgefüllt."

From a text about an "Anlagerungsplastik" (whatever that is!). I think Anschlußbereiche has something to do with the connection between the bone transplant and the bone bed, but am not sure of the best way to phrase it in English. Connection regions? Connected areas? Hmm. TIA for your help.

Thanks Jill and Steffen. Think I will go with "areas around the joins", but I rather liked "contact zones" as well. Certainly a big improvement on what I had! Thanks again - appreciate your help as always.

agree  Steffen Walter: You meant to write "the area around join*t*s", didn't you? // ADD: Seem to have learnt sth. new - could you give some elucidation as to the difference between the two? // Aha, getting the drift now ;-)

-> nope, in this case I prefer joins//ADD: hmm, its not that "joints" is wrong, but a joint is something more defined (spatially) IMHO, this is a more diffuse area where 2 materials are joined.
