German term or phrase: Gebrauchsanweisung
I was just asked whether "instruction for use" is wrong and needs to be changed to "instructions for use". In these cases, it is used in the dental field for Gebrauchsanweisung or Verarbeitungsanleitung of products used by dental technicians or dentists.

I'd like to hear the opinion of English mother-tongue translators as for me the plural version "instructions for use" feels more common and gets ten times more hits on google compared to the singular version.

agree  Thomas Pfann: Very nice, but what about the question? Is "instruction for use" wrong or just less common?

  -> I would call it wrong. You can take or give instruction on a specific topic/subject, but for manuals it is always instructions. American English, to be sure.

agree  Cilian O'Tuama: Wrong unless there is in fact only one instruction, quite unlikely. If a product needs instruction(s), it'll need more than one. We'd never say "what is the instruction for use".
6 hrs
  -> No, we wouldn't.

agree  Johannes Gleim: Eine Gebrauchsinformation (so der übliche deutsche Begriff) enthält immer viele Informationen und Anweisungen (Zusammensetzung, Anwendungsgebiete, Eigenschaften, Gegenanzeigen, Wechselwirkungen, Dosierung, Anwendungsfehler, Hinweise und Haltbarkeit)

  -> Which is why there are ns translators.
