phenomenon/artifact due to improper angulation/misalignment of the probe Explanation: Misalignment of the ultrasound probe with anatomical structures/inadequate angulation of the probe in cardiac ultrasound can mimic (fake) aspects/images of anatomy and functional results (i.e. myocardial wall motility). An (allegedly) thicker (due to misalignment/angulation of the probe) myocardium suggests less motility/vitality in the observer's eye in comparison with a myocardium of (allegedly) normal diameter/wall motion. Thus, a wall motion abnormality can be detected. But on correct *probe alignment/angulation* there would be no abnormality seen. An artifact, just like Phil presumed... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2013-12-09 17:01:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- in comparison *to* Apologies... |
