circle Explanation: There are a lot of explanations in Google: "Matching Surrounds: In 1994, the International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, published their BS 775-1 recommendation for multichannel sound systems with and without picture. In this setup, all loudspeakers are equidistant from the listener and lie on a circle with the listener at the center. The left/right front speakers are 60° apart and 30° from the forward direction. The left/right surround speakers are 140° apart and lie 110° from the forward direction. " "As shown in Figure 13, dubbing theaters (and cinemas) use multiple surround speakers arranged along the sides and rear, mounted high to create a diffuse, enveloping surround soundfield. The advice we've given so far for placing surround speakers is aimed at duplicating this effect at home. In most DVD-Audio mixing facilities, however, there are five identical speakers arranged at ear level in a circle around the mixer." My second link gives you a diagram. There's also a sound system called "Cirlce Surround"... Reference: http://www.rpginc.com/products/hometheater.htm Reference: http://www.dolby.com/ht/Guide.HomeTheater.0110.html |
