Ausschaufeln here refers to the AC rotor and the process needs to be performed based on local conditions either in an installed/removed state.

We also have "einschaufeln", presumably the opposite of the above, specifically to the "rotor blades".

I wondered if it means removing/installing the rotor blades or if something more specific is meant.
