Other's, including yourself, are still welcome to challenge that by entering new answers.
The traction gained by any answers preferring "venue" as the choice would (and should) be somewhere between low and zero...imho...
ETA: I offer my express approval to enter the answer "newly relaunched venue", and to see the peer response this will generate..

... which is why I strongly believe that Martina has indeed got some leeway for "transcreation" (involving at least some degree of deviation from the source) rather than run-of-the-mill translation. The series of questions Martina asked clearly reveals that the German copy leaves a lot to be desired in a number of instances, and can be improved upon quite easily.

Regarding entering my own answer, I wouldn't want to do that because, in that case, I'd be forced to "steal" half of Andreea's or Ramey's (or even your) answer just for the purpose of posting "venue" as a further option, which can be added to the glossary anyway upon closing this question.

I can't speak for others' opinions, but my own would be to seriously consider a "disagree" for such a major deviation from the asker's source material and, therefore, original question...

This is by no means as clear-cut as you are suggesting. From the point of view of the trade fair host/organiser, "venue" can also refer to the facilities provided specifically for the event, as opposed to the complete trade fair/exhibition centre. I'd thus venture to say that there is at least a significant overlap between the two terms, depending on the perspective.

...would be something like "Messe Frankfurt", as listed in the event's publicity material, for example. But there's no suggestion of a complete "Messe Frankfurt" refurb to be seen anywhere in the source text provided.
Whereas the "Plattform" could only refer to that space, backdrop, facilities and part of the venue specifically allocated to the trade fair in question.
The two terms, in other words, are in no way synonymous nor interchangeable with one another.

@Steffen, the term "Plattform" refers to the trade fair as a whole; at another point in the document they are also talking about "communication platforms" and "platform for professional visitors from the construction, bathroom and energy sector"...
