I'm not sure that I can produce any evidence, but my instinctive feeling is that this is just a pompous way of referring to having the results evaluated by computer, without the need to have a person read/score them.

The evaluation of data in your context is carried out through EDV (= EDV-technisch), i.e. through electronic data processing/electronically/computerized. The particular task here is not just "processing" in general, but evaluation. That's why I suggest electronic/computerized data evaluation.
