Zigarren sind mehr als ein bloßes Tabakerzeugnis, sie sind ein Stück geliehene Zeit.

My first thought was "borrowed time", but it has a somewhat negative connotation.
Though one could argue that smokers are living on borrowed time anyway.

Any ideas appreciated.

Yes, borrowed time has negative connotations. I agree with Stephen's idea of lifestyle, and it got me thinking about luxury etc. Just an alternative to that.
