Marketing - Marketing / Market Research / questionnaire/survey
German term or phrase: Filterführung
I've read through the entire questionnaire without finding any contextual hints as to Filterführung might mean. Some sort of IT technique?

Fragebogenentwurf: Lebensziele
Vorbemerkungen:

filters
Explanation:
Filters are used to filter out respondents who don't fit the quotas required for the survey (too old, too rich etc.)

At the start of the questionnaire (or very often in a preliminary questionnaire called a screener - \"Rekrutierungsfragebogen\" in German), a number of questions are asked to filter out the respondents who do not belong to the target group requested by the client. (I worked in NOP market research for 3 years and used to design these things)

agree  Darin Fitzpatrick: Right answer, but different meaning. Filters "tweak" the responses by limiting or expanding options. http://www.analytictech.com/mb313/principl.htm

-> OK, maybe I'm thinking of "screening out", but I've definitely seen this used as "filter" before, whether correctly or incorrectly

agree  Ian M-H (X): Whether these are for screening respondents at the start of a questionnaire or just linked to particular sections/questions (Darin's point), they're fundamentally doing the same job - filtering - and are called filters ;-)
