German term or phrase: eine thematische Gruppe von Bauteilen
Context (e.g.):

Wenn eine Änderung betrifft eine thematische Gruppe von Bauteilen, z.B. eine neue Teilekennzeichennummer für Teile eines Herstellers.

I know what is meant, but I'm not really happy with "a topical group". I just can't think of a more natural way of putting it.

(subject-)related group of components

Explanation:
depending on the subject it could be also 'functionally related', but I don't know your 'thematische' interrelation

Notes to answerer
Asker: The use of 'thematische' is rather problematic. Cf. http://dict.leo.org/forum/viewWrongentry.php?idThread=718677&idForum=3&lp=ende&lang=de

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
neutral  Steffen Walter: Not sure if "subject-related" is an appropriate term to refer to examples such as the one cited by the asker (" z.B. eine neue Teilekennzeichennummer für Teile eines Herstellers").
