The context is a one-day event for telecommunications professionals (management level) from various companies to meet with one another and discuss future approaches to working.

I was wondering if they mean something like a 'case study' - i.e. they will be discussing their own experience from their own companies in order to give ideas to the other people present. Other suggestions are welcome.

These sessions will be part of the overall structure of the day:

"Last but not least, we wanted students to meet and learn from real software architects. Thus, we invited presentations from the trenches — architects working in industry, sharing their experience."

I thought both these suggestions were great and fit the context perfectly. However, in the end I opted for the more staid 'experience report' as the client is quite traditional and may not have appreciated the war analogies. I decided that 'hands-on' didn't really fit the context as the 'praxis' was referring to the specialists' experience rather than 'hands-on' sessions for the event attendees.

agree  Steffen Walter: "3 Inspirierende Praxisinputs (je 18 Minuten)" seems to point to clear and concise "hands-on presentations". On a related note, "wertvolle Learnings" really grates me ...
