The next problem child: the word "Typausprägung" is commonly translated to "type." - Meaning the horse's type - If a warmblood horse has "moderne Typausprägung" - then it has modern type - the type of the Thoroughbred. "Schöne Typausprägung", pretty type. Therefore - I'm having trouble understanding what is meant by "diffizile Typausprägung." The possibility of "difficult character" is ruled out because the following paragraph compares this stallion to another (stallion line relative) stating his transmission totally lacked willingness to perform and character - in opposite to the stallion with "diffizile Typausprägung." So - What is "difficult type?"

I seem to be missing some type of meaning somewhere. Suggestions? Insight? Here are the two sentences:

"Domspatz war ein Inbegriff für leistungsbereite, treue Springpferde mit oftmals diffiziler Typausprägung und Schwächen im Hinterbein."

"Der reinerbig dunkle Don Carlos war ein Sohn des Dominik, der besonders langlebig und vital war, in seiner Vererbung jedoch (im völligen Gegensatz zu Domspatz) Leistungswillen und Charakter manchmal völlig vermissen ließ."
