Ideen?

raised by
Explanation:
I have translated this term before and have had the problem with "raiser" or "rearer" which really isn't used and makes for clumsy English. "Raised by" worked much better, imho.

ps - the "raised by" came from a fairly large North American Holsteiner (horse) breeder, and it's the way they say it there.

agree  Cetacea: See e.g. http://www.easttexashorses.com/paint.htm The term is also used in connection with dogs: one breeds dogs, the other raises puppies.

stockgrower

Explanation:
This term appears frequently in connection with cattle ranching here in the Wild West. I'm not sure that it can be extended to other livestock also found around here; sheep, goats, pigs or llamas.

agree  Cetacea: I associated stockgrower with cattle or sheep, but it obviously includes horses, albeit probably not race horses; see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyoming_Stock_Growers_Associati...

rearer

Explanation:
Züchter und Aufzüchter: breeder and rearer

There is probably no greater breeder and rearer of racing greyhounds than Nick Savva. Nick’s attention to detail and deep understanding of what is required to avoid losing that potential he has bred, is unrivalled.

In addition to breeding equipment, Brinsea Products also offer accessories (thermometers, egg balances etc.), consumables (disinfectants, hatching mats for example) and a range of useful books for the bird breeder and rearer ...
