This was set up to prevent the spread of bird flu from one area to another, (eg on the bridge leading to Rügen in 2006).

All the British articles I've read about similar outbreaks there talk about 'disinfectant mats', but the 'Schleuse' is a bit more than just the mat, because it also incorporates the possibility to wash down vehicles.

I was thinking of 'sluice' - would that fit here?
