"Möglich, dass man ihn gezwungen hat, ihn geschlagen hat, ihn vielleicht verhöhnt hat", mutmaßt seine Schwester Leila. "So etwas kommt vor bei uns. Das kann durchaus sein. Vielleicht haben sie ihn verschleppt", sagt sie. "Eine andere Erklärung haben wir nicht. Dass jemand einfach so verschwindet, das gibt es doch nicht." Auch Magas' Mutter will nicht glauben, dass ihr Sohn ein Kidnapper sein könnte: "Er hat gearbeitet und gleichzeitig am Institut studiert. Er hat mir sogar noch zu Hause geholfen. Question: What does „verschleppt“ mean here? Besides, I don’t understand completely what „o etwas kommt vor bei uns. Das kann durchaus sein.“ Means.

"o etwas kommt vor bei uns, das kann durchaus sein." - oh, these things happen here. That's entirely possible.

But this really puzzles me: Auch Magas' Mutter will nicht glauben, dass ihr Sohn ein Kidnapper sein könnte ... Unless we're talking about two different people, someone who was abducted can't be a kidnapper.
