I found quite a few references to graphomotor skills, which is part of the fine motor skills, but defined specifically to writing, which the German term does. Otherwise, they would have used "Feinmotorik", which includes a variety of functions that involve your hands, not only writing.

agree  danilingua: Feinmotorik IST Schreiben :-). Wenn die Feinmotorik nicht passt, geht auch Schreiben nicht. Mein Sohn hat 3 Jahre lang Therapie erhalten, Grob/Feinmotorik und Logopädie :-). Do I know about motor skills...
