agree  cologne: acquisition tax is what SAP uses. I also get over a million google hits, not that it matters, I just wanted to have a look myself . Unfortunately, I cannot send you a screenshot Iof the SAP screen I am looking at right now.

I'd call it. You buy something and they level a surcharge on the transaction. In Illinois, we have the 7% 'sales tax' on everything except drugs and health services.

neutral  Kim Metzger: Any reference to "Erwerbsbesteuerung insbesondere im Sinne der 6. EG MWSt-Richtlinie"? I can't see what Illinois has to do with the European Union. ADDED: it's a matter of the terminology used in the EU.
