German term or phrase: Gewinnungskosten
This seems to be a Swiss term, and I want to be sure of the meaning/translation. Based on my context, it seems to be some sort of a tax deduction, but I would like some help with this one...

Context:

"Für die Zeit des Auslandwohnsitzes oder der Tätigkeit im Ausland wirk kein Abzug vorgenommen. In Frage kommt einzig die Anerkennung nachgewiesener ausländlischer Einkommenssteuern als Gewinnungskosten."

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you for you quick response. I wish that I could split the points since I ended up combining your answer and David Moore's answer; I went with "tax deductible occupational expenses".

Thanks again to everybody!

Explanation:
For purpose of tax, all business expenses are not treated as deductible; distinction is made between eligible business expenses and non-eligible business expenses. Please see this link though it refers to insurance:

Explanation:
I suspect one of these terms would be used in the UK at least; I also think they would be well-recognised in the USA. It seems quite clear from the context you have given these are personal and not company expenses. It would probably fall under the provisions of "double-taxation agreements" - that once you pay income tax in one country, you don't have to pay it in another.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Yes, you are spot on. This is about long-term incentive plans, stock options, etc. and relating double-taxation agreement/dispute with respect to exercising the options.
