Hope someone can help please.... In the following context:
Die Kapitalertragsteuer wird unter anderem bei Beteilungsertraegen wie Dividenden, Zuwendungen von Privatstiftungen, Zinsertraegen aus Geldeinlagen bei Kreditinstituten oder bei Kapitalertraegen aus Forderungswertpapieren und Investmentfonds ***abgefuehrt***
I am wondering whether to translate abgefuehrt as "withheld" or "paid" (found in Duden in the following example: abfuehren = Steuern an das Finanzamt zahlen). Thanks very much - I don´t know enough about tax to be able to tell whether the tax would be withheld or paid in this context. Charlie
