German term or phrase: a.o.
"a. o. Stellvertreterin" - below "Der Zivilstandsbeamte", followed by a signature. This is on a Swiss birth certificate. I'd like to know what it stands for (possibly anderenorts?) in German as well as the English translation. (I'm not a legal specialist.)
Laurel Porter (X)
außerordentlich - non-regular
Explanation:
I would say it stands for "außerordentliche" Stellvertreterin, which means she is a non-regular Stellvertreterin (?)

Thank you - I stopped looking after three dictionaries. Found it in the new Duden. Thanks for your help - I won't be so lazy next time!
