German term or phrase: & Co
"Google & Co"............."Facebook, Twitter & Co" etc.

This is for a company that specializes in search engine optimization. My first impulse is to just drop off the "& Co" as an idiosyncrasy of German, especially as searches mostly turn up German websites, but I thought it prudent to check just in case "Co" is some internet entity I haven't heard of before. I have never heard of Google or Twitter referred to as "Google and Company" or "Twitter and Company" in English before, so if that's all it is, I think I would just leave it out. Any thoughts?

Explanation:
When we Germans list a few entities and then add "& Co" we mean "andd others like them", so "facebook, twitter & Co" would mean "facebook, twitter and other sociial media services like them", implying that the list is not limited to just those two. I might add "and other social media" or something along those lines.

disagree  Nils Andersson: Et al usually means actual physical persons

-> Excuse me, but that's nonsense. Persons or parties. Could equally well be a newspaper, dictionary publisher, car manufacturer, pop group...

agree  Lancashireman: But without the full stop. What is it about this site that induces contributors to place double quotes around everything and administer a terminal dot to all abbreviations?

-> I'm normally very careful with apostrophes etc., and the full stop here is not unusual// Oxford lists it with terminal dot, MW does not.
