Diagnosis Related Group (DRG)

A medical cost reimbursement method initially developed by Medicare for its prospective payment system for the reimbursement of medical fees for a patient. Each DRG category is based on patient characteristics (e.g., age, sex), diagnosis, and medical procedures all of which are condensed into a single DRG that applies to a specific patient. Predetermined payment amounts are assigned to the categories. DRG\'s are now utilized by employers and insured as a cost containment technique.

disagree  Harald Moelzer (medical-translator): Sorry, but searching for a DRG catalog in the web gives you loads of references for the "Digital Raster Graphics (DRG) catalog". Whereas DRG classification gives you <900 public and healthcare hits (www.statistics.gov.uk/healthaccounts/ downloads/)etc.

-> Harald, how likely do you think it would be for the Digital Raster Graphics to appear in the same sentence as "Brachytherapie für die Prostata"? (BTW, in this month's ATA Medical Newsletter we're publishing a list of tricky medical abbreviations).
