I'm not sure what in the context of geology this refers to. Other definitions on proz for other fields list a rise, or a swell, but I wonder whether these are accurate geological terms as well.

Here is a sample sentence, which unfortunately may not be very indicative:

Nord-Afghanistan lässt sich in... drei Teile gliedern: Senkenkette des Parapismus und Vorhindukush nördlich der Herat-Linie, nordafganische Aufwölbung und nordafganisch-tadzikische Senke.
