No. Just slipped up in an interview. That second option is nonsense.

Revealing something unwittingly clearly implies making a mistake. You can't say "let sth slip" in this context: it would have a completely different meaning; "let it slip that..." may work but forces you to add more information not required by the German intransitive verb verplappern.
