German term or phrase: austretende Naturfasern
"Zur regelmäßigen Pflege der Matratze genügt es, diese mit einer weichen Bürste abzubürsten.Vermeiden Sie es, die Matratze auszuklopfen oder abzusaugen, da sonst die Feinpolsterschichten unnötigen Belastungen ausgesetzt sind. Die Folge ist oft statische Aufladung, zu erkennen an austretenden Naturfasern."

Talking about cleaning and care of a mattress. Naturfasern are natural fibres, of course, but I have no clue what "austretend" means in this context. TIA for your help.

I used this, mainly because of what patrans said. None of the answers convinced me beyond doubt however, and I'm just as uncertain and utterly confused about the use of this word here as I was before. Thank you all anyway for your efforts. I still appreciate it.

emerging natural fibers

Explanation:
austreten just means that fibers will penetrate the cover and emerge or escape from the mattress as an indication of static charges. You might know a better word now that you understand the meaning.

Reading the German text again, "austreten" seems a bit strange in this context unless fibers emerge through a cover or come off completely. Maybe what is meant is "sich aufstellen" or"aufrichten", in this case Birgitt's proposal is of course better.
