"Wanne je nach Wasserhärtegrad von Zeit zu Zeit mit einem handelsüblichen Entkalker behandeln. Eine ***Kalkschicht*** auf der Heizplatte behindert die Wärmeübertragung."

Instructions for cleaning a counter top cooling unit. Lime layer doesn't seem right for "Kalkschicht". I think Kalkschicht here may refer to any sort of substance (e.g. grease) that goes hard if it's not rinsed off soon enough. Just having a mental block of what this might be called in English. TIA for your help.

Explanation:
Softened water makes the smallest amount of soap foam luxuriously and dramatically cuts down the amount you need to use. You save on washing up liquid, shampoo, cleaning soaps, and you don't have to clean off all that awful calcium deposit that forms like kettle scale round everything that gets wet.

I think \"Entkalker\" is limescale remover, it might of course deal with other deposits as well.

agree  Herbert2: Lime scale covering the heat plate ... and Entkalker = descalant is usually thought for limescale. Maybe some products remove the grease too
