From instruction manuals for some sort of food-cooling device. I'm not sure what the device is, but here's something from further along in the text that explains its purpose:

Das Gerät ist speziell für den Einbau in Lebensmittel- und Ausgabetheken entwickelt worden.

Das Gerät ist zur Kühlung von flachen Lebensmittelerzeugnissen, wie z.B. Snacks, Kuchen und flachen Tortenstücken bei Temperaturen von ca. 6°C bestimmt."

Looking up Kühlunterbau on its own in Google, I get a lot of hits in my sort of context, some with pictures, but still can't think of an English word for the "Unterbau" bit that would go definitely with cooling. Base, maybe? TIA for your assistance.

Not exactly a convincing explanation, but the "under counter" bit did help. After much research and comparing pictures etc. I have come to the conclusion that a Kühlunterbau is much the same as an Unterbaukühlgerät, which is an undercounter refrigerator or worktop refrigerator. So that's what I'm going to go with, but thanks for setting me on the right track, Anne. Thanks also to Fred for at least trying.
