fr Nahrungs- und Genusszwecke fit for (human) consumption Explanation: I think this is all that is meant. The website below shows that all this relates to edibles. www.brandstock.com/english/02vermittlung/ 01marken/tbestand_detail.asp?id=61 |

für Nahrungs- und Genusszwecke for consumption Explanation: "Genuss" in this context means nothing more than that it is consumed, and "zwecke" ("purposes") is typical of German office speech, but it adds no real meaning to it. Hope this helps Peter |

für Nahrungs- und Genusszwecke for nutrition and consumption Explanation: Here 'nutrition' and 'consumtion' both relate to foods and beverages; the difference is that 'nutrition' focuses on the benefit to the body of what is eaten or drunk (calories, vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, carbohyrates, etc), while 'consumption' simply focuses on the fact of eating or drinking. |

s.u. Explanation: I don't think that we can put it all under the category "consumption" because here they differentiate between Nahrungsmittel und Genussmittel. The first one would be food and Genussmittel are tea, coffee, alcoholic drinks, etc = stimulants Dietl/Lorenz defines Genussmittel as semi-luxury and luxury foodstuffs, stimulants |

für Nahrungs- und Genusszwecke s.b. Explanation: The difference between the two terms is the same as between Nahrungsmittel and Genussmittel. (Wahrig: Genussmittel = Lebensmittel, das in Abgrenzung zum Nahrungsmittel in erster Linie dem Genuss dient). Both are "Lebensmittel". I found you a clear definition of the meaning of "Genussmittel" (see the link below), which shows the differences between the 2 terms, but also the fact that they do overlap. My (general) English dictionary gives for "Genussmittel": luxury foods, alcohol and tobacco. The EuroDicAutom gives for "Genussmittel": beverages and tobacco and (in a different entry) natural stimulants. For "Nahrungs- und Genussmitttel" it gives: foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco.
