Cheek of veal/Calf's cheek Explanation: Despite what the name conjours up, Bäggli are not sweetbreads, but the cheek from a calf's head. I the reference sentence, the calf is a bit older, but it has lost what you thought bäggli could have meant :-) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-11-11 16:52:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- A tip: if you find a Swiss word with "gg", just try replacing the two letters with "ch" or "ck" to get closer to the germane equivalent. Oggsä Bäggli = Ochsä Bäckli (almost Schwäbisch) = Ochsenbacken -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-11-11 16:53:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- germane? German of course! (Idiot!) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-11-11 16:55:58 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Although germane (in the sense of closely related) works quite well, too :-) Example sentence(s):
