coffee brand


Explanation:
I have an automatic coffee maker where you put in whole beans, push a button and out comes the coffee, cafe latte, cappuccino or espresso. It also has another container in which I can put ground coffee (e.g. decaffeinated) in case someone wishes to have a cup of decaf. Is this what you are talking about?

I guess in German, the term "Sorte" refers more to the origin of the coffee, i.e. where it comes from - that is from South America, Jamaica etc. So, I guess coffee brand would be the nearest equivalent to "Kaffeesorte", whereas to distinguish between ground coffee and whole beans I would rather use something along the lines of "Kaffeeart", that is - as you said - type of coffee.

Explanation:
In my view, it's "ground coffee", because it makes most sense to me. "Vorgemahlen" just means that it comes ground and you don't have to do it yourself, so I wouldnt use "pre-" in front of it like in "pre-boiled" rice, which comes only half boiled.
"Kaffeesorte" seems to me a bit strange in the source text, that would be "coffee brand" in German, but it wouldn't make any sense here, because you can use any brand as long as it's ground, I think.
