Hi Rob, I\'m sure one of our engineers could do a better job explaining it than I can, but here\'s a stab at it. Some tools, like a radial-arm saw, can be adjusted to operate at different angles. These are the axes (plural of axis). Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, etc. axes.

super, Kim, put me on the right track (I'd been wondering where the axles came in!) Your quote ("with 2x5 axes") is correct in that context, it's just that "we" Brits. leave the noun uninflected when it's an adjective: a 3-point turn covers 3 points, a 4-wheel vehicle has 4 wheels, and so on.
