I am currently translating a text on creative industries, in which these are referred to as a 'Branchenkomplex'. For example:

..."Dies geschieht trotzdem der Branchenkomplex aufgrund seiner Heterogenität und wachsenden Fragmentierung keinesfalls einfach zu verstehen ist, geschweige denn dass es schon gelingen würde, zielgenaue Wirtschaftsprogramme in die Praxis der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft einbringen zu können."

I'm not exactly sure what a Branchenkomplex is, nor how to translate it, and would be grateful for any help.

It seems that the idea that the "complex," in music for example, could include musical performance, instrument manufacture, piano tuning, production impressarios, etc.
